The Moops
[newsflash]     [about]     [cast]     [guests]     [shows]     [media]

A unique aspect of each show The Moops perform is their guest monologist. Drawn from a diverse cross-section of the Philadelphia community, special guests of The Moops have included patrons of the arts, artists, charity auction winners, and celebrities. Each guest of The Moops is lavishly introduced by improvised song and dance at the top of every show. Special guests act as the inspiration for The Moops performance, by regularly delivering true stories from the center of the stage throughout the evening, based on a suggestion they solicit from the audience when they first take the stage. These stories are they brought to life in fantastic and unbelievable proportions by the actors. Without special guests The Moops become powerless, like The Pips without Gladys Knight, or Stan Musial without Wheaties.

The Moops have been fronted by the following special guests...
Special guest Bethany Asplundh takes center stage
Bethany Asplundh
Bethany Asplundh appeared with The Moops in their premiere shows on November 6th and 7th, 2008. Ms. Asplundh is a noted arts philanthropist in Philadelphia who won the honor of starring in her own improv comedy show at an auction during the Arden Theatre Company's biennial fundraising celebration Granfalloon. While Ms Asplundh is an instrumental behind-the-scenes player in the Philadelphia theater community, these shows were her first professional theater performance.

Barb Gesshel
Barb Gesshel was the guest monologist of The Moops on the evenings of February 6th and 7th, 2009. An artist based in Philadelphia, Gesshel is known for her beautiful landscapes. She is also crazy, served straight up. Having worked everywhere (including Hollywood) and experienced everything (including owning a small well-mannered dog which was featured in a show at PHIT), she is a natural choice to tell the stories that inspire The Moops work. Like many guests, these evenings marked Gesshel's professional stage debut.
